Toward a More Digital Union

The U.S. House of Representatives is now considering a more digital system of recordkeeping, Federal News Radio reports:
The Committee on House Administration wants to move to electronic documents to reduce paper waste and make documents searchable. "Is this [paper] the best form? Does it need to be distributed as widely as it is? I just think these are questions that we should ask," said Rep. Greg Walden (R-Ore.) during the Oversight Subcommittee hearing Thursday.
Annually, Walden said lawmakers spend $2.3 million on printing congressional calendars, and another $2.1 million on the Congressional Record.
