Tim Pawlenty Delivers a Twitter Keynote
BY Nick Judd | Tuesday, July 19 2011

Republican presidential hopeful and former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty just finished an "appearance" at TweetMyJobs, a conference on jobs and the economy held entirely on Twitter, 140 characters at a time.
Pawlenty delivered a "Tweetnote" and answered questions via Twitter posts from his verified account, racking up a total of 17 tweets over about 45 minutes. For the arithmetically challenged, that's 2,380 characters, or nearly 530 words. Comparing that to an event that integrates video, it was horribly inefficient — the average person speaks at about 125 words per minute, meaning Pawlenty could have conveyed the same amount of information in less than five minutes of streaming video.
That said, the web interface for the conference itself — where users can "register" to attend panels and see filtered and moderated Twitter streams, including web chats with "job experts" and a panel session on technology and job searching — was pretty slick.
