Technology in Politics, Crazy-Cameos-in-Campaign-Videos Edition

BY Nick Judd | Tuesday, October 25 2011

So here's this, the second absurd campaign video of the day, for San Francisco mayoral candidate and current interim mayor Ed Lee. It features cameos by Google's Marissa Meyer, Twitter co-founder Biz Stone, Giants closer Brian Wilson, MC Hammer and others:

The video comes via Luke Fretwell of GovFresh, whose point is that Wilson's Fear the Stache t-shirt, as seen in the video, was his idea.

But the video is also the latest evidence that Lee has developed the succor of Silicon Valley heavyweights, including angel investor Ron Conway, Stone, the Black Eyed Peas' will.i.am, and TechCrunch founder Michael Arrington, who does this now, and writes on his blog that he was holding a mic, off-camera, for will.i.am. Over at TechCrunch, Alexia Tsotsis writes that Conway and Sean Parker — yet another boldface name — funded the video.
