Take a Peek at the Websites India Can't See

BY Nancy Scola | Thursday, April 7 2011

More on the international website blocking front: a request under India's Right to Information Act, filed by the Bangalore-based Centre for Internet & Society, produces the first ever list of websites that are blocked under government order in that country. It's an odd list of 11 sites and pages, ranging from that of Arizona outpost of the Independent Media Center to a Facebook page hating on B. R. Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian constitution. But it's more transparency over what's being blocked than we often see in such situations. (via @LiberationTech)
