Obama Invites You to His Facebook "Town Hall"

'Tis the week that Barack Obama makes a trip out to California that includes a stop at Facebook's Palo Alto headquarters, where he'll participate in a "town hall meeting" on the topic of "Shared Responsibility and Shared Prosperity." In a new video posted on YouTube, Obama extends an invitation to Wednesday's event, and the San Francisco Chronicle's Carla Marinucci reports on the White House's explanation for why they're doing it:
White House communications director Dan Pfeiffer told reporters last week in a conference call that Obama isn't necessarily aiming for the youth demographic with his event. "It is an attempt to reach people who may not get their news through traditional news sources like newspapers and the network news,'' he said. "And we want to go to where people...congregate online and communicate with them there. And Facebook is certainly one of the premiere places to do that."
A huge number of people are on Facebook, so it's indeed "one of the premiere places" to broadcast a message these days. But does this make anyone else think of Mr. Lee's Greater Hong Kong in "Snow Crash"? Anyway, the full details are here.
