Mobile Political Ads Could Be Coming To You, Wherever You Are

Over at Politico, Emily Schultheis digs in to how targeted political advertising might show up on your phone more often next year. Between anecdotes about mobile ads in the field, like one from Rep. Michele Bachmann's congressional campaign that appeared for people near the Minnesota State Fair last year, is the bottom line:
The 2008 campaign was dominated by text messaging — most famously, the Obama campaign’s vice presidential pick announcement over text — and, though campaigns like Romney’s still utilize text messaging, the medium now appears headed for display ads and mobile video ads. Ads can be targeted by geographic area and by category, and like Web ads, cost just a fraction of what TV or radio advertising does.
