John McCain Considers Twitter

Apropos, perhaps, of this whole discussion of how P.J. Crowley's tweeting post-State Department, Sen. John McCain seemed to be in awe of the power of Twitter and other online communication tools of the modern age at a breakfast this morning.
"It's free media for a lot of candidates," he said, as reported by Politico's Scott Wong. "And I think it’s fundamentally restructuring the whole nature of information and how it is dispensed in America." McCain said that a tweet of his that called for Hosni Mubarak to step down in Egypt earned the senator some trouble, but at the same time, "I was able to immediately reach 1.7 million people."
