Housekeeping: New Design Tweaks and Technorati Charts
BY Joshua Levy | Tuesday, September 11 2007
As you may have noticed, we've made some spiffy design improvements to techPresident, all in the name of easily findable and navigable charts.
First, with the help of our friends at Dillon Thompson we've added a menu bar to the top of the page linking to our social networking data. The bar automatically appears when you load the page, but as you roll over certain menu items it will show sub-menu items. I'm particularly fond of the icons.
We've also overhauled our Technorati charts.
We used to embed Technorati's own charts that showed the daily number of blog mentions for the candidates and undecideds, but we decided to take advantage of their public API and build our own from the ground up. This way, we can be more flexible in how we display and archive the data. The new charts also take advantage of our friend Duncan Werner's amazing design, which in addition to looking cool makes the charts interactive; click on the box next to the candidates' names to make their numbers appear and disappear. It's like magic, only nerdier.
A big thanks to our developer Shai Sachs, who has helped us implement the new charts.
We're very proud of these new changes and hope you like them.
