I do think the effort was blog-worthy but the video itself is really awful. It reinforces bad gender stereotypes and the disingenuousness of the campaign gimmick.

This morning I was thinking, what if I could bake a pie to help support a presidential candidate? And what if that candidate's birthday was coming up? Then, I was alerted to a video of Joe Trippi and Jonathan Prince, two top aides to the John Edwards campaign, baking a pie for Edwards’ 54th birthday!
In the video Trippi and Prince come across as mix between the Odd Couple and Cheech and Chong as they spend quality time in someone’s (Trippi’s? Prince’s? The Edwards’?) kitchen making a pecan pie. Even though Trippi ends up burning it it looks delicious.
At the end of the video Elizabeth Edwards tells us that “just because Joe couldn’t make [the pie] work, doesn’t mean you can’t make it work.” The point of it all: if you contribute to the campaign between now and John Edwards’ birthday on June 10th, you’ll get access the Edwards’ mother’s secret pecan pie recipe!
We at TechPresident managed to get our hands on the recipe, and man does it look like a mean pie. We’d like to share with you, our loyal readers, but thought it was only fair to blot out the most important parts:

In all seriousness, I like this video, and it's good to see the Edwards campaign following Hillary Clinton and Bill Richardson's forays into comedy by making this lighthearted and funny video.

Not Funny At All or A Good Post
Not sure why you think we should go to a presidential campaign's staff for humor or is it you are just being kind to your friend Joe T? While showing the human side of a candidate is important, isn't this all about trying to have Edwards relate to average Americans instead of being perceived as a guy that can't make his $400 haircut stay in a particular spot? Isn't that the real story here rather than trying to get a cheap laugh?
