A promise is a promise.
Of course he'll meet the goal. They probably already have...

I just received an "personal" email from Mitt Romney's wife, Ann Romney. The email starts with a spin on Mitt's performance during the first Republican POTUS debate, and then moves quickly to make one HUGE challenge for the upcoming debate in S.C. on May 15:
In conjunction with the debate, we are launching a new program called Sign Up America! – a 24-hour grassroots rally to sign up as many new supporters as possible. It starts with the South Carolina presidential debate on May 15 and continues through the evening of May 16.
If we can sign up 24,000 new supporters in 24 hours, we will make history. And I know that by working together, it’s not only possible, it’s inevitable.
Should you choose to accept this mission, you can read the full email. But since I've read it - twice - I'll dig in...
This personal note is the second time I've heard about the challenge. The first was from a reporter I just spoke with who writes for a daily in one of the key early states.
That reporter's thoughts about this challenge were that Mitt is really raising expectations -- and he's counting on his grassroots team to deliver on the challenge. In a sense, shooting for the stars to land on the moon.
I agree in some ways with the reporter that garnering 24K activists/donors will be a tough reach in 24 hours, but there's really no way any of us will know if the program is successful or not.
I mean... I don't have access to any of the logs and I'm clearly sympathetic to Republican nominees.
So what do you think about this challenge? Gimmicky? Will it work? And does it matter?
A promise is a promise.
Of course he'll meet the goal. They probably already have...

24,000 is one steep hill to climb though. I'd be shocked if Romney's camp attains that goal in 24 hrs. But he's got some really talented folks on his team and he raised $6M in one day. We'll have to wait and see if he's got the mojo on this one.
i predict he'll meet the goal
They are borrowing here from a program Obama conducted at the end of March. See below.

In my history of receiving these emails, I've yet to see a campaign fail to meet their goal. Somehow, someway I predict they'll make it. Call me a cynic.
Note that I think the idea of trying to reach a donor goal instead of a money goal is a good one.
