Edwards’ You Choose video gets “cut”
By David All, 04/20/2007 - 8:55am

This clip went up a few days ago but I'm just now able to dig out and give it a look.

I find it interesting that the Edwards camp had to edit the video twice. Edwards has always been known as Mr. Articulate on the campaign trail. Surely he could belt out a one-minute opening statement better than any other candidate, right?

Edits:
First - 00:00:12
Second - 00:00:32

I'm not saying there's anything wrong with editing a video to tighten it up and eliminate some of the "umms" and "ahhhs," but it's an observation worth noting.

In fact, let's take this video out of a vacuum and compare it to Mitt Romney's video:

Both videos are about a minute long.

But because Mitt was able to spit it all out in one-minute, I have more confidence in him as a speaker. And let's be honest, we all want our President to be much more articulate than we are.

How many takes?

And how many takes did Mitt Romney need to get it right? Could be one, could be 10 or 20 -- we won't know.

Good point.

It took me, personally, about 40 takes to make my response video to Mitt and I'm still not in love with it.

Then again, I'm not running for POTUS.

Whether it takes one take or 2,000 - the end product matters.

Fun Times

We had a lot of fun with the You Choose video. John Edwards recorded the video between campaign events in New York. We filmed it in one take, but cut it down a bit out to keep it around the 1 minute mark. We are really looking forward to seeing how people respond to the video and what they are doing to change America.
