Ambient Civic Literacy

BY Nancy Scola | Monday, November 1 2010

Some of the Google homepage's precious real estate has today been given over to connecting people to the Voting Information Project's new polling place data set that we've been talking about over the last week.

(More on this front: MobileCommons, reports Fast Company, is making use of the VIP data to help people find their polling places; text "where" or "donde" to 30644. It will ask you for your home address and, if all goes well, send you a text back with the address of where you need to go to vote. The Democratic National Committee also has its own mobile locator; for that one, you text "place" to 62262.)
