Obama Goes to Netroots Nation

BY Nancy Scola | Monday, July 26 2010

Virtually, at least. The President recorded a special video message to be played at the annual gathering of progressive bloggers and their compatriots. The latest NN conference took place in Vegas this past weekend, and the annual gathering has become a spot on the circuit for Democratic politicians. Speaker Nancy Pelosi and home-grown Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid appeared in person. In his video message, Obama called in a surrogate: crowd-favorite Rachel Maddow. In a spot of embedded footage, the MSNBC host ticked through the Obama Administration's list of policy accomplishments during its initial time in office. "The last time a president did this much in office," Maddow said at the end of her contribution to Obama's Netroots Nation address, "booze was illegal."
