The Miners Story Project van was designed by Local Projects, one of the company's honored by First Lady Michelle Obama during Wednesday's National Design Awards event at the White House. - Michelle Obama gives props to great American designers of today and tomorrow, at a White House event. One honoree: the company that designed the Miners Story Project trailer, a rolling recording studio that goes around the southwestern U.S. to collect tales of the American mining way of life.
- But why they chose to use Mel Gibson as a model in their design, dunno.
- Twitter is promoting its list of verified world leaders. Useful stuff. That said, the ommission of Rep. Jack Kimble is rather inexplicable.
- Suffolk County, New York, joins the list of municipalities sending out emergency details via text message.
- Vaseline treats India to a face-whitening Facebook app.
- Citizen archivists are doing their country a solid, helping to digitize some 20,000 photos showing diplomactic engagements gone by.
- And Facebook becomes a factor in Oklahoma's 5th district race.
