Civic Hall is Open for Membership Applications!
BY Micah L. Sifry | Monday, December 22 2014
Civic Hall, our new collaborative community center for civic tech innovators, will be opening in “beta” mode in late January. If you want to get in on Civic Hall's ground floor--well, literally we're on the second floor--send in your application now.
How do you know if joining Civic Hall makes sense for you? If you are excited by the potential of technology and social innovation to make a positive difference in the world, and you are a change-maker yourself, you should consider making Civic Hall your home base. Being a member means having a great place to work and network, the opportunity to deepen your connections with peers and strategic partners, and a chance to co-create and participate in world-changing community projects.
You’ll be in a beautiful 18,500 square-foot space in New York City’s Flatiron District, at 156 Fifth Ave., at the corner of 20th St. We’ve designed it for collaboration with super fast wifi, more than 100 workstations including standing and developer desks, multiple conference rooms, private phone booths, free printing, a lounge, and free coffee in a communal cafe. Our membership options are designed to help you get the amount of time appropriate for you and your organization, whether you need a full-time place to work, or a part-time hub, or a basic affiliation that plugs you into the community and gives you a base when you are in Manhattan. For more details, including a floor-plan for the space, go here.
We are looking to weave a diverse community of doers from all the different strands of the civic tech ecosystem, and welcome change-makers of all types, including campaigners, engineers, data mavens, activists, government employees, journalists, academics, hackers and artists. Membership applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and members can expect to begin using the space on January 21st, 2015.
Civic Hall also has a modern event space that we will be opening soon; stay tuned for details!
