Merry Christmas!

Dear Friend,

Happy Holidays! I hope you are enjoying your holiday season. This past
year has been quite an adventure for us. We've been all over the United States
speaking to supporters and future supporters about the campaign. It's amazing
to see how many people are tired of politics as usual and ready for a change. But
I'm sure I don't have to tell you that!

This time of year always makes me think of family and friends. I also reflect on
 all
the things that our family has to be grateful for. I am blessed with two wonderful
children and four grandchildren. While I am so grateful for all that we have,
this time of year also reminds me that there are many who are left wanting. Too
many parents will be without their sons and daughters for another Christmas
because they are in Iraq
fighting George Bush's oil war. We have 46 million of our fellow Americans who
will go through another Christmas without health insurance. And some of our
nation's poorest citizens are taking on more than their fair share of our tax
burden.

I want to change this. We need a President who is willing to make the
tough decisions and initiate the changes that our country needs. I want to
bring the troops home now, provide healthcare for all Americans with my
Healthcare Security System and make the tax system in our country fair by
abolishing the IRS and implementing the Fair Tax.

We also need to enact the National Initiative for Democracy (NI4D), an
amendment to allow for federal ballot initiatives. The NI4D is vital, because the
only way we are going to see the changes our country so desperately needs is
when the people demand them.

I hope you will take a moment to visit www.nationalinitiative.us [http://rs6.net/tn.jsp?e=001b4IsNDkv7kLxdCU6hA_i8idTAJMaYZ7YQJRUPD7UZNe_1H_g2vDe5XpW0iJaGHe4U38Lgs2QIe9N5hHGbVzWoQjiq-6tpcvXTWvWo_eHff3gih3HVRLl339xSXhM1qyz]to
learn
more about the NI4D.

I know during the holidays budgets are always tight. Trust me; we have four
grandchildren and plenty of nieces and nephews who believe that grandparents
were made to spoil them. Still, I hope you will consider supporting my campaign
with a small holiday donation [http://rs6.net/tn.jsp?e=001b4IsNDkv7kKtOQVANhH4Rz2JxOIIDstUvmRtU1vURQ_m2ioTKqzyHMSTktlMopRz0RJJZSDJBv11YZ8MPrU4kp6DBZFr_canEdpBSiqJtTbwDKn90n2-thRpfHGvZDva]of
$10, $25 or $50. This would go a long way in
helping to get my name on the ballot in the remaining states. It would also help
 to
purchase more campaign materials for supporters or even bring the campaign to
your state.

Finally, I want to send a personal thank you for all that you have done
to help the campaign this year. I know that spreading the word, donating to the
campaign, and volunteering can be a time-consuming and sometimes thankless
jobs. I hope you know that none of this would be possible without you, and I
appreciate all that you have done.

I want to wish you a wonderful holiday season. Stay warm, and enjoy this
time with your family and friends. Remember: New Year's
resolutions don't start until next year!

Love,

Mike and Whitney Gravel

P.S. I hope you will pass along this email with my holiday
wishes to all your friends and family.

Mittbucks.com Lets Voters Compare Their Paychecks With Romney's

What would it take for Mitt Romney to be able to relate to the average American's daily economic life? He'd have to pay $1,208.09 for a gallon of gas, according to Mittbucks.com, a web site recently created by Adam Rosenscruggs and his wife Danielle in Washington, D.C. The eye-popping figure results from an annual income that I plugged in ... GO

What Twitter Won't Tell You About the Election

A new study released on Tuesday by the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press on Tuesday offers the opportunity to get real about what the political conversation on Twitter and Facebook can — or can't — tell you about the progression of the 2012 political campaign. Pew has found that even among users of Twitter and Facebook, a paltry percentage of people use social networks to get news about politics: Only 24 percent of Twitter users in the sample and 25 percent of Facebook users said they "sometimes" got campaign news through that network, while a full 40 percent of Twitter users in the sample and 46 percent of other social media users reported "never" getting campaign news through either Twitter or Facebook. Navigating New York's "Road Map for the Digital City," One Year In

In May 2011, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg revealed a "Road Map for the Digital City," a plan to use technology to make city government more and participatory, and to leverage the city's tech sector for economic and civic gains.

New York City Chief Digital Officer Rachel Sterne will join our editorial director, Micah Sifry, on a conference call this Friday afternoon to discuss the progress on that road map so far. The call is free and open to anyone to join. You can sign up here.

Pete Hoekstra's Campaign Website's "Offensive" Source Code Changed After Outcry

As if "chop suey fonts" and obvious graphic allusions to the stereotype of the Chinese as the Yellow Peril weren't controversial enough, the group that created an incendiary microsite for former Rep. Pete Hoekstra's campaign has managed to further fan the flames with what it's calling a mistake in its code. GO

Fidel Castro Loves the Internet

“The Internet is a revolutionary instrument that permits the receiving and transmission of ideas, in both directions, that is something we should know how to use,” Fidel Castro told a crowd of supporters on Feb. 4, according to the state-owned Cuban newspaper Granma International. Castro, who made his first public appearance since April 2011, launched his two-volume memoir, “Guerilla of Time,” and took the opportunity to discuss issues of importance to him. Earlier this week, Miranda Neubauer reported that one of these topics was the need for the Internet. Castro has been a proponent of the Internet as a tool for the exchange of ideas since 2003, but the average Cuban citizen faces great difficulty getting online. GO
