I hate to point this out, but unfortunately the health of a presidential candidate can be a huge overhanging issue. Paul Tsongas ran for President as a cancer survivor, but died at a prematurely early age of 55 as a result of his illness. It can't help but come up if Thompson decides to run. So while it is interesting that this news didn't seem to dent the enthusiasm of RedState Republicans for a Thompson bid, we'll see what happens if he actually gets in.

Well this is interesting...
FWIW - An online poll running at conservative blog Redstate seems to indicate that Fred Thompson's announcement has had little (if any) impact.
The question, "Does the news that Senator Thompson has an indolent form of lymphoma in remission affect his viability as a potential Presidential candidate?"
Results as of April 12, 9:45 AM:
Fred remains a viable candidate 21% 389 votes
Fred is not a viable candidate now 6% 113 votes
Fred was never viable as a candidate 9% 158 votes
RUN FRED RUN!!!! 64% 1,153 votes
1,813 votes total
