Our Favorite Videos of the Week: Who's Freefalling?
By Joshua Levy, 02/01/2008 - 11:28am

It’s the last Friday before Super Tuesday — gosh, are we really here? — and we’re chock full of fun vids. Hulk Hogan “endorses” Barack Obama; Mike Gravel produces another talk/rap video; the Rapping Pizza gets infectious; and Hillary takes a fall. And much more, of course.

8. Ted Kennedy Endorses Barack Obama

The liberal lion endorses Barack Obama, with a thundering voice that belies his age and niece Caroline and son Patrick sitting behind him. This owned the media cycle for about 15 seconds. Almost 95,000 views on YouTube.

7. Hulk Hogan endorses Barack Obama for President

Chuck Norris came out for Huckabee, Sylvester Stallone endorsed John McCain, and now… Hulk Hogan says Barack Obama “seems like the real deal.” More than 11,000 views on YouTube. (Also check out this excellent mashup of a really strange Hogan video and Obama showing off his dance moves).

6. Political Talk

Mike Gravel — he’s still in the race! — has a new video out that continues the rap/talk style of his previous work. Not as avant garde as the Rock video, but still harnessing Gravel’s flair for straight talk and solid jams. Almost 10,000 views on YouTube.

5. Bush Clinton Dynasty- Pizza Rap

Collegiate political rap was never so… cheesy. The Rapping Pizza (he’s a Ron Paul fan) satirically salutes the notion of a shared Bush/Clinton dynasty. The refrain of “Bush, Clinton Clinton, Bush Bush, Clinton Clinton” has been stuck in my head for days. About 1,300 views on YouTube.

4. Hillary Clinton Trailer

This trailer, produced by YouTuber LumiereB, starts out trumpeting the possibility of a woman president, and moves on to a spooky trip-hop groove that plays as supporters explain why Hillary is their candidate. It’s not bad, though it could be a bit more uplifting — that music is scary. About 13,500 views on YouTube.

3. Fox News: Rudy Giuliani - “America’s Mayor”

Rudy Giuliani dropped out this week, failing in his bid to become America’s Mayor. But Media Matters discovers that, as Fox News has it, he’s always been America’s Mayor. More than 33,000 views on YouTube.

2. Web Ad: A Tale of Two Mitts

John McCain and Mitt Romney continue to beat each other up online, and McCain hits with his second flip-flopper video of the last two weeks. It’s information most YouTube founds would be familiar with, but it’s always amazing to see Mitt disagree with himself like that. More than 30,000 views on YouTube.

1. Freefall

This video from Hillary Clinton’s campaign is accompanied by the phrase, “The stakes have never been higher in choosing our next president.” True enough. But for many who watched it, the man falling out of the sky didn’t represent the economy, but Clinton’s campaign. A bit more than 16,000 views on YouTube.
