Liveblogging the MTV/MySpace dialogue with John McCain
By Joshua Levy, 12/03/2007 - 5:22pm

I’m here in Manchester, New Hampshire, and it’s all snowy and New England-y. The “airplane” that took me here — it was more like an ‘89 Volvo with wings — was a little rickety but it put up a good fight against the first winter storm of the year.

The folks behind tonight’s MTV/MySpace Presidential Dialogue with John McCain have flown me up to cover the event, and I couldn’t resist the chance to watch the first Republican to participate in a series in which Democrats Barack Obama and John Edwards have done well, but didn’t face very critical audiences. This, I think, will be different. (The organizers have paid for me to be here, but that doesn’t preclude me being critical of the event.)

The format, which lets viewers at home send questions via IM and rate the candidates in real-time, has been well-received. Last time, however, I was unable to view the stream of the event. No matter what browser I used my Mac wouldn’t display the video, only audio. Others had the same problem. Let’s hope that’s fixed.

The past two events have taken place in the middle of the day, and rebroadcast

The liveblogging will commence here at 7pm. We’re using software from Cover It Live, which makes it easy for me to continually update, and for you at home to chime in with your comments. Should be fun!

For your records, check out past liveblogging of Obama’s appearance earlier this year.
