Huckabee's month-long web-traffic surge has been reaching new heights recently, surpassing Obama's site traffic in the past few days, according to Hitwise. According to Alexa, he is neck and neck with Clinton, and Obama still gets more traffic.
Traffic matters most, however, to Huckabee, because it represents non-MSM traffic (did you notice all the Huckabee mentions in the NYTimes spread on the Presidential race?) and low dollar donors and organizers. Dips and surges in web traffic of MSM-annointed candidates don't matter nearly as much as they do for the outsiders.
That said, Huckabee's new fundraising appeal on his website feels a bit like the fisherman's wife. He may pull in the funds again, but there can be a long term cost to going so quickly back to the well. Or, as in the fairy tale, the ocean.
