I had to miss tonight’s Republican debate because I am a Red Sox fan first and foremost, so I’m going to the top five Republican candidates’ websites for responses, and I find:
12:29 AM Mitt Romney. No evidence that a debate happened. (See semi-correction below)
12:25 AM Mike Huckabee. A roundup of blogposts about the debate and 36 comments. Lots of linking out.
12:35 AM Rudy Giuliani A blogpost with four videos of Rudy from the debate. No context if I don’t know it, and no linking out.
12:38 AM Fred Thompson A roundup of blogposts, a response from the campaign, over 118 comments. Lots of linking out.
12:40 AM John McCain A clip of McCain at the debate is the top blog post, four comments. And then, the second post down ... a flattering video clip from Mike Huckabee.
PS. Make that six sites. 12:51 AM Ron Paul site. No evidence that a debate happened.
(Yes, Ron Paul supporters, if I take Fred Thompson seriously just because the MSM says I should, I should take Ron Paul seriously just because you say I should. I am convinced.)
[Update/Correction]: Stephen Smith of Romney's campaign sent a 12:29 screenshot of Romney's site with an image of the debate and a miniparagraph below it, and noted that there were several video clips of the debate on the site. I returned to Romney's site and found a rotating main image. One of the images that rotates through is the debate image, so had I waited, I would have seen it--the others are images encouraging one to Join Mitt's team, an image about a new ad, and an image from Ann TV. However, it is still possible to be on Romney's site for 14 seconds without the debate easily findable. I recreated the experience just now (using the one-one thousand, two-one thousand, three-one thousand method of counting). Thanks, Stephen, for the correcting note.
