Tweets Political, Less-PC, and FTW
BY Nancy Scola | Friday, July 17 2009
Time elapsed between Indiana Republican Senator Dick Lugar announced he'll vote to confirm Sonia Sotomayor and the time the White House's 711,000 Twitter followers knew it: well, I don't know exactly. But it wasn't long at all. From @whitehouse at about 10 EST this morning:
Sen. Lugar (R-IN): “Judge Sotomayor is clearly qualified… a judicial temperament … I will vote to confirm” http://bit.ly/DSUwL
In other news, Politico's Ben Smith picks up on one benefit to resignation Sarah Palin is highlighting -- the gloves are off when it comes to Twitter: "elected is replaceable;Ak WILL progress! + side benefit=10 dys til less politically correct twitters fly frm my fingertps outside State site."
And then, circling back to @whitehouse, we have what I'm fairly certain is the first-ever tweeted use of the shorthand "FTW" by a head of state.
