Turning Google on Geithner
BY Nancy Scola | Wednesday, July 21 2010
The Hill reports on the online ads that the Progressive Change Campaign Committee is running in support of Elizabeth Warren as the head of the new Consumer Financial Protection Agency mandated by the financial reform measure signed by President Obama about an hour ago. A consumer protection agency was the Harvard professor Warren's idea in the first place, and the ads come in the wake of a Huffington Post report saying that Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner is opposed to the notion that Warren would head the new agency -- though it's worth noting that Geithner has pushed back on that report, saying through a spokesperson, "Secretary Geithner believes that Elizabeth Warren is exceptionally well qualified to lead the new bureau."
A Google News search for "Elizabeth Warren," for example, return the ad above.
