Red Cross Looks at Confronting Crisis with Social Media
BY Nancy Scola | Thursday, August 12 2010
The American Red Cross is holding an Emergency Social Data Summit today in Washington, DC. "Social media has changed how people communicate, including their calls for help," reads the description of the event. "Now, people Tweet, update Facebook statuses, and text about natural disasters. Emergency and disaster response organizations are working to develop a process to address this and harness the communication power of new media."
Thanks to the miracles of technology, you can go ahead and watch the day's events above or check out the video archives from this morning here. Things wrap today at about 4:30pm EST, and you can check out the agenda here. The hashtag folks are using is #crisisdata.
