The Democratic National Committee's Organizing for America wing -- what we all know as the evolution of Obama for America, fueled by the campaign's 13-million member email list -- is taking to the airwaves in a new TV ad. The stated target? Not obstinate congresspeople opposed to the president's budget, but potential grassroots supporters. "Thousands are going door to door as part of Organizing for America, gathering support for President Obama's plan to invest in America's future," goes the voiceover, over shots of clipboard wielding door knockers and Gotham-font chryons pointing people to BarackObama.com. "You can help too. Call Congress and tell them to support President Obama's budget plan to get our economy moving again." The ad buy, though, might suggest that OFA is hoping to catch political attention beyond the grassroots. The DNC reports that the TV spot will run on national and DC cable -- "primarily MSNBC and CNN."
