The Job-Killing Effects of Automation

Rep. Joe Barton (R-TX), you might remember, recently issued a my bad for his commiseration with BP execs over a $20 billion "shakedown" fund for Gulf coast resident, an apology that seems to have allowed him to keep his job as ranking Republican on the House Energy and Commerce Committee.
That apology for an apology, reports the Washington Post's Dave Weigel, took on a new twist this morning when @RepJoeBarton, the congressman's (verified) Twitter account, posted a link to his office's active Amplify account which lead to an American Spectator column titled "Joe Barton Was Right." That tweet has been yanked, and the Amplify post too.
One suspects that Barton's office had it set up so that his Twitter account auto-tweeted his Amplify postings; a clue that that's the explanation: the "via Amplify" tag on the offending tweet. One also suspects that a Barton media staffer is reaching for the Pepto.
More from Weigel, who has a screen shot of the tweet.
Update: Yep, a Barton rep confirms to Greg Sargent that the office's account on Amplify -- a site intended to let folks bookmark and share news clips -- was set up to automatically post new links to Twitter. Whoopsie. Want to trade places with the Barton staffer having to explain the nuances of social networking to House leadership?
