Documenting Recovery: Where YouTube Meets Stimulus Dollars
BY Nancy Scola | Thursday, June 11 2009
ProPublica's Amanda Michel turns up a local company going out of its way to document how it is making use of federal Recovery Act dollars. The New Hampshire-based Pike Industries has been the recipient of a dozen stimulus-funded contracts, and in this video posted to YouTube the company focuses on the repaving of a 9.4 million second of Route 101 in Exeter. What is no doubt music to the Obama White House's ears (and potential fodder for the White House blog, should they be able to make use of corporate-produced content) is how the company profiles a few of the 60 new employees -- many of whom had struggled for months to find work -- who were hired on, they say, as a result of the Obama recovery plan.
