Dems Experiment with Using Tweet Button to Build Base

The Democratic National Committee and its Organizing for America wing have adopted the new official Twitter "tweet" button that we mentioned last week, and the new gizmo opens up the prospect of some added functionality that could be used to both build up the base and spread supporters out to the local branches of the party.
The switch was made as part of the Democratic Party's "Commit to Vote" offline/online drive, itself based in the premise, backed by actual research, that humans who tell other people they're going to vote, and then are reminded to do it, are actually more likely to turn out in elections. The new Twitter tweet button allows site owners who implement it to "suggest" to their users additional Twitter users to follow once they've posted the relevant tweet.
So, for the DNC, once Commit to Vote tweets are sent ("I just committed to vote this November. Will you?,") supporters can be presented with the choice to one-click follow, say, @BarackObama or the DNC's @Democratsdotorg.
That's all well and good, but the added potential is that with some geo-locating magic, users might be auto-pushed to their state Democratic party or local Organizing for America branch.
