Congress Techs Tell Obama "Yes We Scan"
BY Nancy Scola | Wednesday, April 22 2009
The bipartisan House Administrators Association and its Senate counterpart have just released a letter to President Obama endorsing Carl Malamud's bid to become the next Public Printer of the United States. "In our jobs we interact closely with the GPO," they write. "It is important that the GPO be led by a visionary with the management experience to leverage technology to allow us to better inform our constituents about the Congress's legislative activities. We endorse Carl Malamud..." Somewhat unorthodox for Hill staffers to publicly declare a dog in the fight on a presidential selection like this, but little about Malamud's campaign for the post has been traditional.
Meanwhile, the current public printer, Robert Tapella, seems eager to fight for his job in the realm of public opinion -- recently dropping in on the comments section of the Free Government Information blog.
