BY Nancy Scola | Tuesday, June 23 2009
- At today's presidential press conference, the Huffington Post's Nico Pitney got in a question gathered from his ongoing Iran live-blog ("Under which conditions would you accept the election of Ahamadinejad..."), and why that might be good for the White House.
- Helene Cooper and Sheryl Gay Stolberg of the New York Times, which has been having its own successes with contemporaneous coverage of late, live-blogs the press conference. ("In a nod to Iranians’ use of the Internet, the president calls on Nico Pitney of The Huffington Post...")
- "[D]emocracy can be a bit messy." A look at marijuana advocates, UFO watchers, and others arguably "not sticking to the topics at hand" in the White House's experiments in participation.
- Relatedly, the White House has another go at bringing a dose of engagement to the presidency by making use of Facebook's chat features, including for this afternoon's Title IX event.
- And related to that, the White House has created a gallery of the photos that came in through its call for Title IX-ish shots. (The gallery tool they're using: Cooliris.)
- Organizing for America is building a "health care story bank."
- The Center for Democracy and Technology lets it be known that it will be tracking the evolution of the White House's cybersecurity policy approach. (Thanks Shaun Dakin)
- Participation Camp is happening in New York City this weekend.
- Michelle Obama records a video for the All for Good-powered summer of service initiative.
- And do communes simply need better tech support?
