Breaking Out of the Sausage Factory

Tommy Sowers is the Democratic candidate for Congress in Missouri's 8th district who, we've noted, has tried pulling in former Obama for American staffers through Facebook ads.
With just 13 days to go before the election, Sowers is back with a creative, if ambitious, attempt to pluck shackled Capitol Hill staffers from their quiet, kinda depressing offices in Washington and deliver them to southeast Missouri, where the real action is this time of year. The Sowers' campaign has got a mustachioed Bradley Whitford staring in a YouTube clip that aims to appeal to the thousands of staff Democrats sitting around in DC and cleaning out their files this time of year, instead of toiling with honor in the field. "Hey, Hill staffers," the fake former White House chief of staff beings, as "West Wing"-esque music soars in the background. "Are you tired of being cooped up in the legislative sausage factory? Do yourself a favor. Take a breath. Shake your Etch-a-Sketch. [Ed. note -- What?] And go on down to the Missouri eighth district." Whitford wraps with a bid to House and Senate staffers' latent rebellious sides. "Tell your Chief of Staff. Or not. But get yourself down here."
The campaign is pushing the video out through Twitter and, they say, through another set of Facebook ads. Heck, it's only a 15 hour drive.
