Big Leap or Big Show? Now Streaming: Open Government Partnership's 'The Power of Open'
BY Nick Judd | Tuesday, September 20 2011
I'll be spending all day at the Open Government Partnership event "The Power of Open" at Google's offices here in New York. Launched in July, the partnership is a multilateral coalition, co-chaired by the U.S. and Brazil and with the cooperation of a wide array of non-governmental organizations.
The coalition's stated goal is to promote transparency, citizen participation, and accountability in participating countries, leaning on technological tools to accomplish these. It's an ambitious project with a lot of promise, observers have told me — today is a chance to see if the partnership will deliver.
As promised, the eight initial participating countries have delivered their action plans, to be elaborated on in speeches later this afternoon.
The day's agenda and more information is available here; open government and transparency coverage from OGP is probably going to take over the blog today, so check back for updates and follow the #OGP hashtag to stay up to date.
