Beyond "Guys in a Garage": Five Women Making Names in the DC Tech World
BY Nancy Scola | Monday, July 27 2009
The Washington Post's Kim Hart, who is soon on her way to The Hill to pick up the technology and politics beat there, highlights five women who are making their way in the Washington-area tech world. In her last "The Download" column on the DC tech scene for WaPo, Hart profiles Shireen Mitchell, Larissa Fair, Alexis Rodich, Kady Chiu, and Shana Glickfield. The piece has a heavy emphasis on social media, rather than more hardware or purely software focused work. Says Mitchell, "Social media is the one tech industry that seems natural for women to be part of...It's all about communicating, and women's communication skills are great assets."
