You think you've seen everything, and then it turns out that, no, no, you really haven't.
Admiral Mike Mullen, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and a 42-year military veteran, told the Senate Armed Services committee in a landmark congressional hearing earlier today that he supports a repeal of the so-called "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy. In a normal time, that would be surprising enough. But then things got even more interesting. Just so as not to leave any ambiguity about his testimony on the Hill, Mullen almost immediately distilled his anti-DADT message down to Twitter size, tweeting, "Stand by what I said. Allowing homosexuals to serve openly is the right thing to do. Comes down to integrity."
How do we know that's really Chairman Mullen, and we're not setting up something akin to the recent Habermas unpleasantness? Well, for one thing, @thejointstaff is a Twitter verified account.
